- The g77 compiler looks like a good deal; I certainly hope we can get
- it ported to Linux--it'll save me from the snarling jaws of the
- Vaxen... :-)
-
- By the end of this week, I hope to have my Linux system upgraded to
- 0.98pl5 or 0.99 and using the extfs so I have enough space. When that
- happens, ongoing g77 development will happen _primarily_ under Linux,
- so porting it won't be a problem.
-
- FYI, g77 is still in private alpha testing, and will be for another
- few months. Here is the info on how to get the latest status and
- other info:

- Okay, here is the definitive info (at least for now :-) on how to get
- current status on info on g77 (nothing has changed, but I want to
- put the info in one place):
-
- If you can do finger -l, try:
-
- finger -l fortran@gate.gnu.ai.mit.edu
-
- If that produces output of around 100 lines, then it probably works.
-
- Otherwise, if you can do ftp, try:
-
- ftp gate.gnu.ai.mit.edu
- Username: ftp
- Password: (any)
- get g77.plan
-
- The ftp copy of the file is updated every 3 hours from the live copy.
-
- Otherwise, you could try sending email to user fortran@gnu.ai.mit.edu
- asking to be sent the latest copy of the file, but _please_ make this
- your last option, because it requires human intervention!
