- I have used uuencode and uudecode on SUN computers before. But when I
- took a look at the versions on linux, I get the following situation:
- 1) /usr/bin/uu{en,de}code are the same file. I checked using cmp.
- 2) When I try to use uuencode, I get error messages consistend with uudecode.
- Errors included, "No begin line" "No end line" ... Typical stuff if you are
- indeed trying to use uudecode, but I was using uuencode.
- Is there a problem with my understanding of uuencode or are they indeed the
- same file and I need some switches to make it work correctly?
- The manual page in Linux only mentions the algorithm and file layout for
- a uuencoded file but not any command line options.
- Is there a place where I can get a version of uuencode? I find that I can't
- transfer files from my SUN to my PC without using uuencode/uudecode. Binary
- kermit doesn't work for TAR files (compressed).
- Thanks,
- Ron
