- Ok, I have a couple of more questions that I think I will churn out on
- you guys... The first one is really easy, and is kind of minor as well.
-
- 1) We are attempting to get the TCP/IP stuff to work under SLS .98p5.
- Since the Ethernet card did not reside at Interupt 5h, we had to
- recompile the kernel with the Interupt 10h set up for the card.
- We only had a few hastles, and tomorrow I will know if all of it
- actually works (heh, we forgot to plug the stupid thing in...).
-
- What I *did* notice was that after I completely compiled the
- kernel and made the image, I found that the new Image was much
- smaller (sorry, I don't have the figures) than the original.
- Something was definitely missing. Well, I then booted with it.
- Of course the TCP/IP stuff didn't work (well, we hadn't realized
- that it wasn't plugged in yet...), but everything seemed kinda
- weird. For instance, the keyboard had been remapped! Also,
- the process (ps) command was no longer working. I don't think
- I need to say much more, since I am sure other have already seen
- this problem.
-
- What gives? I would think that the binaries and the Image used
- to create the boot disk would be exactly as the Makefiles and
- sources should be as if I made *no* changes and just remade the
- files. Did somehow the sources not get updated and the binaries
- were? I hope this is fixed with SLS .99 whenever it catches up
- with Linus and his new release... Also, since I *do* have the
- problem described above, can someone describe was happened?
- (Don't worry, everything is back to normal now anyway... I had
- covered my tracks before I made any changes...)
-
- 2) This is a real quick question for those who have done this.
- Since the interrupt for our Ethernet card is at 10h, I had to
- recompile the TCP/IP stuff with that in mind. I didn't miss
- anything, did I? Just thought I would ask any of those people
- who had to also change the interrupts.
-
- Thanks for any help you guys give me. I find this newgroup a great vat
- of knowledge, and I hope to give a little back of what I find with what
- you guys provide for me! :-)
