  10. Hello fellow linuxers,
  11.     I'm new at using Linux(coming from DOS and OS/2) and am having some
  12. problems getting LILO to make Linux bootable.  I've install 0.98.5 of SLS
  13. release of Linux and am using OS/2 boot manager.  I've been programming for 
  14. a while, boot am kinda new to make files, and am not quite sure that Lilo
  15. is compiled correctly, but I think it is.  I've read every thing I can get
  16. my hands on(FAQs, etc), but am clueless.  This is my setup:

  18. /dev/hda1    extende partition(OS/2)
  19. /dev/hda2    primary part.(ext linux fs)
  20. /dev/hda3    primary part.(boot manager)
  21. /dev/hda4    primary part.(dos FAT)

  23. I used the command:

  25. /etc/lilo/lilo -c -b /dev/hda2 -v -v /Image
  26.  
  27. plus many variants with no success.  Lilo says that it's reading the boot sector
  28.  
  29. and then says something about not finding valid 
  30. Lilo signature and quits.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  After this
  31. gets solved, I'll have some questions about getting X windows working - I can't
  32. get it to work, even in mono.  It appears that it is trying to use a VGA mode
  33. (color) that my card doesn't support, saying that my card isn't supported.
  34. My card is a Paradise with 512K though.  When I have some time to investigate,
  35. I'll have a better description, and more questions.
