  12. Hi folks,

  14. i've been installing SLS .98pl5 last weekend and had very weird problems
  15. until i've switched off my 2nd level cache:

  17. - mail died with segmentation fault
  18. - tetris died with segmentation fault
  19. - gcc died with SIGSEG....
  20. - .......

  22. After I switched it off everything works fine. Is this an board error or is
  23. there any rule behind this (everything works fine with the builtin cache of
  24. the 486).

  26. My machine consists of:
  27. - 486 50MHz
  28. - OPTi chipset (the one for all 486-XXXX including SX) manufactured by
  29.   Shuttle (don't remember the exact type)
  30. - 16MB RAM
  31. - 256kB 2nd level cache
  32. - IDE controller made by Timex with Quantum LPS240A connected
  33. - multi i/o on IDE controller
  34. - Diamond SpeedSTAR HiColor BIOS Rev. 4.3
  35.  
  36. I'm totally unwilling to let my cache been switched off, so may anybody
  37. help me?
