  21. Lpq will report "no deamon present" if there's no deamon serving the 
  22. printer in question.

  24. In overview the lpd system works like this:

  26.     There's one main lpd daemon that should always run.
  27.  
  28.     When a job is received, lpd forks and the child handles the
  29.     queue for that job until the queue is empty. It's such a 
  30.     child that lpq misses.

  43. You might want to have a /usr/adm/lpd-errs file that is world-writable,
  44. that is the default destination for log messages from lpd.
