- Hi, I've grabbed SLS.98.5 and installed it (all except X, which I'll
- do next). I've created a new non-root user for myself using adduser
- (or was it useradd) The trouble is that even though I specify when
- my password is to expire, I always get a message saying that
- my 'password will expire in 0 days'. Also, setting my prompt to '\u'
- causes the above subject line message. Can anyone help?
- I am also having trouble compiling C programs as this new user. Will
- this problem go away when I know who I am?
-
- Lastly, I too have been having trouble with LILO and SLS. It just
- won't work. I have set ROOT_DEV in the make file, recreated my image,
- changed the /etc/lilo/install script and I keep getting a message
- saying that there is an invalid LILO signature in the first boot
- sector.
-
- In case I don't need to upgrade to LILO 0.7 here's what I'm trying
-
- DRDOS partition on /dev/hda1
- LILO partition on /dev/hda2
- LINUX partition on /dev/hdb1
-
- the LILO parttition is the only one flagged as bootable, and is very
- small. I did it this way to avoid having to change my master boot
- record. Call me paranoid. This setup worked with HJ's disked setup.
- Also all Partition Id's have had to be changed from 81->41 (fs) and
- 82->42 (swap) or else DR-DOS 6.0 gets all in a muddle.
-
- Can anyone help?
-
- Lastly (really this time) a couple of observations from using SLS.
- The readme says to alter super.c (if you want to lose fs features)
- but this should read filesystems.c. Also if you don't want SCSI there
- is a line saying to remove scsi from the SUBDIRS line in the makefile.
- Since this line reads SUBDIRS = scsi I just commented it out. But
- this fails, since SUBDIRS in then inherited from the 'parent' make. I
- should have just commented off the scsi bit so it read
- SUBDIRS =
- Obvious really. Just thought I'd mention it.
-
- Cheers
- JJ
