- But, you see, Linux is not the only OS that uses the XFree86 X server
- package. Many other thousands of people are using it with BSD386 and SVR4.
-
- The problem is that the authors of Xfree have committed to a portable
- source-based distribution and will not support an entailed solution because
- of Diamond's asinine policies. You are free to implement whatever solution
- you want, but if you want people who are committed to a source-based
- distribution to support you, you are are really asking for something
- absurd. The first rule of buying hardware is spec your software and
- determine if it will run on the desired hardware. I would rather run SunOS
- 4.1.2, but it won't run on my choice of hardware. I don't argue, I get the
- right hardware or I run different software. If you want to run your
- Diamond, then write the initialization routine, or get the commercial
- version of X386 from SGCS or buy Metrolink, both of which support it I
- believe.
