- Greetings:
-
- I'm a new Linux user (just downloaded enough of it to get the mono X system
- working -- gonna grap the compiler tonite :) and I have a question. After
- some head scratching concerning the configuration of my machine's internal COM
- ports, I discovered what seems to be a bug in kermit. What I want to do is use
- my mouse and my 2400 baud internal modem simultaneously. I'm doing that now
- using xc (or xcomm). When I try using the pair with kermit, the modem works
- fine, but the mouse dies. Obviously, this can be a problem with X running. :)
- The problem can't be with the serial drivers since I have no trouble getting
- things working with xc, but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed similar
- behavior with kermit. One thing about xc that bugs me is that it re-maps the
- DEL key to ^H, which is no trouble on other Unix boxes, but ti drives
- me nuts in VMS. And no, the mouse doesn't come back to life when I quit
- kermit.
-
- By the way, let me offer congratulations to all you guys, Linus especially: I'm
- amazed that I got a working Unix and X system crammed into my little bitty
- 16Mhz 386SX and 40 meg hard drive. Now if only I could make the color X
- server work... :)
