- Someone from another news group told me about the FAQ for Linux. I've never
- used ftp before but, armed with my "Zen and the Art of the Internet" I gave it
- a try. At the VMS prompt I typed
-
- $ ftp kirk.bu.oz.au
- <at which point I logged in anonymously>
- dir <this did not work>
- ls <this did not work - permission denied or something like that>
- cd /pub/OS/Linux <this looked like it worked>
- get faq <it said it successful, but I was skeptical>
- mget *faq* <this would not work - permission denied or somethinglike that>
- ^Z <I exited ftp>
-
- I look in my directory, but I could not see any file that looked like a faq.
-
- Can someone help me get a FAQ?
-
- Thanks,
- Sieg
