  29.   Sure - it's cheap, slow and ... junk-ware for a UNIX-system!

  31.   Look at _ANY_ SCSI QIC-150 1/4" streamer and you find the answer
  32.   yourself. Many system vendors have built-in 150 MB 1/4" SCSI streamers
  33.   as 'maintenance tape' (SILICON Graphics, IBM etc.) for the distributed
  34.   OS and products and you may even get an SCO-Unix installation kit on 
  35.   that kind of media.

  42.  It seems that the MWC crew never heard the word 'industrial standard'
  43.  (the Adaptec-1542 is such a thing!) and further it seems that they
  44.  have no idea what it could mean to cling to industrial standards ...

  46.  What MWC showed with COH' V4.x is real junk. You don't believe this?

  49.      WangTek 1/4"-SCSI-Tape running SCO-ODT 1.1, a whole 150MB tape 
  50.      restored in 45 minutes. (~60KB/s)

  52.   b) On my COH'-Box 386/40-AMD (3 times as fast!, same SCSI controller) 
  53.      moving a 60MB NEWS-area to a new disk took nearly took 2 hours -
  54.      Disk-to-Disk!  (~8KB/s)

  76.  no need anymore, to bang your heads against junk-ware-drivers, if
  77.  people realize what a decicated high-performance parallel peripheral
  78.  bus-system offers. That's what SCSI _IS_! and what the ADAPTEC-1542B
  79.  offers - not just a thingabum disk controller.
