  29. I'm not the one painting everyone who doesn't attend every second
  30. of every event with the broad brush of ``defrauding your company''.

  33. }or just after the conference. This way you still get your planefare
  34. }paid but you are sure of being able to enjoy yourself with

  37. In my opinion, take your vacation whenever you think it will work
  38. for you.  In my opinion, you will have free time.  At the worst
  39. your family will have to entertain themselves Wed, Wed eve (if
  40. you choose to BOF), Thurs, Friday (morn).  Thursday night is the
  41. reception (I got a ticket for my wife through the generousity
  42. of someone not going), but with small kids that would not work well,
  43. so you could skip that (yea, yea, yea, I know, smoozing is expected
  44. of some attendees -- well, in my opinion there was little mingling;
  45. you had a clump of DECies, a clump of IBMers, a clump of Convexites,
  46. a clump of the Usenix cognoscenti, ... etc.)
  47. Friday afternoon seemed really sparse, I think lots of people snuck
  48. home early -- and I don't know if it's because the Friday afternoon
  49. talks were less generally applicable or vice-versa.

  51. Well, that's my two cents (or so) worth.  Obviously opinions vary wildly
  52. here -- find out what your employer expects and do what you think will
  53. work for you.
