- Topic: A Reuse-Oriented Software Life Cycle
-
- Speaker: Rush Kester, Sr. Software Engineer
- Computer Sciences Corp.
-
- Rush Kester has over 20 years of experience in software
- development and management, primarily on NASA and DoD projects.
- He has been involved in all phases of Ada projects from proposals
- to maintenance and operations. He is currently working for
- Computer Sciences Corporation studying software development
- processes at the NASA/Goddard Software Engineering Laboratory
- (SEL). Rush has been an active member of DC SIGAda since its
- inception and currently serves as its Chair.
-
- Rush Kester's talk will describe a reuse-oriented life cycle that
- has evolved at the SEL. The SEL's development process has
- evolved from achieving a baseline of 20-30 percent verbatim reuse
- between successive projects, to routinely achieving 80-90 percent
- verbatim reuse. Not only has this approach yielded shorter
- development cycles, it has resulted in more reliable systems.
- Based on this model, he will emphasize techniques that any
- development organization can use to facilitate software reuse.
-
- Directions:
-
- Take I-495/I-95 (Washington Beltway) to the Baltimore-Washington
- Parkway (exit 22A) north toward Baltimore. Exit the parkway
- immediately at Greenbelt Rd (Rt 193). Turn left on Greenbeld Rd
- and go about 3 miles (or 1 mile past the Goddard Space Center
- main gate). Turn left on Aerospace Rd (just before Shell station
- on left) and go 1/2 mile to Greentec II, the last building on the
- left. See the guard at the main entrance, (301) 794-4460.
