  37. Topic:         A Reuse-Oriented Software Life Cycle

  39. Speaker:       Rush Kester, Sr. Software Engineer
  40.                Computer Sciences Corp.

  42. Rush Kester has over 20 years of experience in software
  43. development and management, primarily on NASA and DoD projects.
  44. He has been involved in all phases of Ada projects from proposals
  45. to maintenance and operations.  He is currently working for
  46. Computer Sciences Corporation studying software development
  47. processes at the NASA/Goddard Software Engineering Laboratory
  48. (SEL). Rush has been an active member of DC SIGAda since its
  49. inception and currently serves as its Chair.

  51. Rush Kester's talk will describe a reuse-oriented life cycle that
  52. has evolved at the SEL.  The SEL's development process has
  53. evolved from achieving a baseline of 20-30 percent verbatim reuse
  54. between successive projects, to routinely achieving 80-90 percent
  55. verbatim reuse.  Not only has this approach yielded shorter
  56. development cycles, it has resulted in more reliable systems.
  57. Based on this model, he will emphasize techniques that any
  58. development organization can use to facilitate software reuse.

  62. Take I-495/I-95 (Washington Beltway) to the Baltimore-Washington
  63. Parkway (exit 22A) north toward Baltimore.  Exit the parkway
  64. immediately at Greenbelt Rd (Rt 193).  Turn left on Greenbeld Rd
  65. and go about 3 miles (or 1 mile past the Goddard Space Center
  66. main gate).  Turn left on Aerospace Rd (just before Shell station
