- Various people have been calling the driving force behind Usenet,
- and you might also expand it to the Internet in general (I think)
- is variously democracy, anarchy, and apathy.
-
- Not sure how apathy applies, because there seems to be a tremendous
- amount of activity here.
-
- I actually believe that the concept of Internet as cooperative
- anarchy is _THE_ single reason why it is now exploding population-wise.
- Where else on earth can you find such a community based on such
- an atractive political structure? People are desperately seeking
- an alternative to "democracy". Witness Perot, etc...
- The Internet is the only easily accessible alternative for millions
- of people on the planet today.
-
- I wonder when political leaders, the ruling elite, etc.. will take
- notice. And as many have noted, how much longer have we got to
- enjoy this delightful state of affairs?
