- I've grabbed the 'distribute' program (used for munging mail to mailing lists
- so the return address will be the list, not the sender) and compiled it, but
- mail sent to the test list I've created still has the first header line in the
- message as
-
- Return-Path: <sender>
-
- although the 'Sender:' header line has been properly reset to the name of the
- mailing list. Apparently sendmail is adding the 'Return-Path' header upon
- receipt of the mail, because when I use distribute in debug mode the
- 'Return-Path' header line isn't there.
-
- When I choose to reply to the test message my mailer (elm) apparently uses the
- 'Return-Path' entry, as it routes it to sender, not test-list.
-
- Any idea what I'm doing wrong? What is the proper way to set up a mailing
- list such that mail sent to the list arrives to users so they can simply
- 'reply' and have the list address used? A bonus (which distribute provides)
- would be the ability for me to add my own header/footer text to all mailing
- list messages.
-
- Thanks for any advice!
