  16. I know that Ultrix (V4.2) nroff performs exactly as you describe, and
  17. it's less than fun trying to read the resulting text.  Perhaps the elm
  18. distribution could include a modified form of tmac.an with the above
  19. change, to be used when nroffing the documents (troff would probably
  20. use the original).
