  28. I replied from my HoloNet account (in an article that hasn't reached ddsw1
  29. yet) that an administrator-level suggestion was impractical and would require
  30. all other Elm users on ddsw1 to delete their $tmpdir/snd.$$ files by hand.

  32. That certain netter responded that no, Syd had said that those files would
  33. stick around only if Elm is terminated by a sighup during editing.  Dupe that
  34. I am, I replied politely that gosh, I must have misunderstood Syd, and if
  35. that's true, my second objection would vanish, though there still would be
  36. the problem of importuning ddsw1's owner (and I'd rather he spend what time
  37. he can spare for my problems on curing the hangups) to edit and rebuild Elm.

  39. But I checked back, and surely enough, Syd had added this:

  44. So my second objection stands: commenting out the code for deleting
  45. $tmpdir/snd.$$ would require all users to rm those files by hand -- not just
  46. me when I luck into finishing a session -- and it's just not reasonable to
  47. force it on everyone.

  49. My third objection is that HoloNet doesn't allow canceling articles.
