- There has been recently a fascinating discussion here regarding Photo CD
- and suitability of various platforms to 24-bit graphics works, particularly
- photo-related. I am a newcomer to that area and would like to use
- reasonably good tools within home-type budget. I know of various tools
- for Windows, and I am sure there are magnificent tools for SGI, but the
- latter ones are beyond my reach. Is anyone aware of such tools for X
- under 386BSD? Is the X direction even worth pursuing (cost)? Are there
- any X tools on different platforms within reason (such as SparcClassic)?
- Is Windows the only one left (for various reasons I have no use for Mac
- and Amiga since graphics is not the only thing I will be doing on the
- computer and both Windows and X would get a fair amount of workout anyway)?
- In particular - are there any inexpensive video capture boards that I could
- use under 386BSD? Slide scanners? Photo CD? Same on SparcClassic?
-
- Thanks for any tips.
