  13. I suggest that everyone who uses my Intel/DVI compatible ADPCM coder
  14. routines grab a new version off ftp.cwi.nl:/pub/adpcm.shar.

  16. This version (V1.1) fixes a bug in the predicted-value update. Besides
  17. being incompatible with other Intel/DVI coders (if any exist:-) this
  18. caused a pretty serious loss of quality. The buggy version had 4-8%
  19. distortion on average where the fixed version has only 1-2%
  20. (comparable if not lower than uLAW/ALAW coders).

  22. In case you don't have a clue what I'm talking about: adpcm.shar is a
  23. set of two routines to convert 16 bit linear audio samples to 4 bit
  24. Adaptive Delta Pulse Code Modulation samples and back, resulting in a
  25. 4-fold compression at only a moderate loss of quality.
