- a few items to check, first off you can type "monitor port XX status"
- and you will get a constantly updating screen of what's going on in terms
- of signals high and low.

- in terms of "xoffed" it is a generic term just meaning that the terminal
- server is to stop sending data.

- I used to run several high speed modems off a vcp-1000 (probably the same
