- Maybe. If the modems you are calling support error correction
- you do not need to. As a general rule, when you call non-error-
- correcting modems you should disable error correction on your
- end first. The modem will still connect (after a fashion), but
- the attempts to negotiate a protocol may confuse equipment
- on the other end, or it may timeout before you have a chance
- to log on.
