- This is an answer to the question about performance of the internal
- ViVa 14.4k fax/modem by Computer Peripherals.
-
- I am using Procomm Plus for Windows, QL2FAX, and WinFax Lite by
- Delrina. Modem connections were fine once I found out that Procomm
- had a bug which affected my connections(get V1.01 or V1.1 of Procomm).
- Now it is working fine. Fax connections works fine sending faxes but
- receiving I had trouble over long distance from out of the
- country(Brazil -> US). I suspect it has to do with the software, I am
- still investigating.
-
- I have called their technical support (it is a 1-800 number, which is a
- plus) and I get through after two minutes of constant redialing. I
- wish I could say they were accurate in their diagnostic of the problems
- I have had but at least they are friendly.
-
- Now about the chip 16550. Nope, they don't have it in their internal
- modem.
-
- Conclusion: I like the modem. I bought it at a local Bizmart for $249,
- I decided for a local store just in case I hated it and wanted to
- return it as quick as possible.
-
- To everybody in comp.dcom.modem's enjoy your christmas shopping.
