  16. This is an answer to the question about performance of the internal
  17. ViVa 14.4k fax/modem by Computer Peripherals.

  19. I am using Procomm Plus for Windows, QL2FAX, and WinFax Lite by
  20. Delrina.  Modem connections were fine once I found out that Procomm
  21. had a bug which affected my connections(get V1.01 or V1.1 of Procomm).
  22. Now it is working fine.  Fax connections works fine sending faxes but
  23. receiving I had trouble over long distance from out of the
  24. country(Brazil -> US).  I suspect it has to do with the software, I am
  25. still investigating.

  27. I have called their technical support (it is a 1-800 number, which is a
  28. plus) and I get through after two minutes of constant redialing.  I
  29. wish I could say they were accurate in their diagnostic of the problems
  30. I have had but at least they are friendly.

  32. Now about the chip 16550.  Nope, they don't have it in their internal
  33. modem.

  35. Conclusion: I like the modem.  I bought it at a local Bizmart for $249,
  36. I decided for a local store just in case I hated it and wanted to
  37. return it as quick as possible.
