Since this is such a widespread problem, has anyone produced a buffer box for
the Sun serial port? From what I understand so far (I just got the phone lines rung out at home so a REAL education is in the offing :-) ), a dedicated CPU
w/ a little memory for a buffer and a 16550 UART would solve the problem for
under $200. The quick and dirty solution would seem to be a PC w/ a fast
serial port card and either Linux/386BSD/?? or a small assembly language
program to handle the buffering? Anyone have any comments on this?
