  12. A friend of mine is doing a dialup setup in Bombay, India, where
  13. the phone company delivers relatively noisy lines.  What protocols
  14. and/or brandnames do you recommend for such a situation?

  16. Is it the case that once the protocols are defined, the brandname
  17. is irrelevant?

  19. Do modems breakdown a lot?  Or do they have a MTBF measured in years?
  20.  
  21. Convenient interfacing to Suns is also an issue.
