  10. We have people using modems to call in from rural locations all over
  11. the US so I know it isn't unusual to have lightning or a power surge
  12. damage a modem.  However it is happening on a regular basis, at least
  13. once every six months at one site in South Carolina sometimes taking
  14. the computer serial port and/or motherboard with it.  We had an
  15. electrician check the power grounding and installed surge protectors
  16. on the power and phone lines and it's still happening.  Has anyone
  17. else run into a situation like this?
