- We have people using modems to call in from rural locations all over
- the US so I know it isn't unusual to have lightning or a power surge
- damage a modem. However it is happening on a regular basis, at least
- once every six months at one site in South Carolina sometimes taking
- the computer serial port and/or motherboard with it. We had an
- electrician check the power grounding and installed surge protectors
- on the power and phone lines and it's still happening. Has anyone
- else run into a situation like this?
