-
- Don't get me wrong, retraining (with fallback and fallforward) is important
- to modem performance, but the ZyXEL seems to be too sensitive. Relocating the
- modem and the phone cable seems to have helped: I now get an average of one
- retrain per connect, and it rarely has to fall back.
-
- It's possible that the problem was a temporary line impairment, which
- explains why the GVC SM-144 and FM-144 had no problems before and why the
- ZyXEL isn't having problems now. I am investigating further.

- Do you have black cases made, or do you just paint them? I'd *love* to put
- black cases on my ZyXEL 1496E and Telebit 1000 to match the black tower case
- on my PC!
