  18.    Well, an obvious option is to check the manual.  I can't find a standard
  19. command or S register for 'action on escape sequence' in my ZyXEL, Telebit, or 
  20. Hayes manuals, but I do believe that I saw some such function in the manual of 
  21. another modem I've used (most likely USRobotics or perhaps GVC, less likely 
  22. Compcom - ugh).

  24.    Also, USRobotics' 9600 bps Courier HSTs had some strange limitation on what 
  25. you could do with the escape sequence while connected in HST mode; I don't 
  26. remember the details, but it's possible that the HST will hang up when it acts 
  27. on the escape sequence, even if that isn't what you want.

  29.    If you find a solution, please let me know what it is and what model of 
  30. modem you have... my memory obviously needs refreshing. <grin>
