- Its based on the Analog Devices 2101 DSP family. The November issue of
- Byte magazine carried 4 articles about DSPs in general including an
- article about Analog Devices Signal Computing Architecture. Ken
- Krechmer from Action Consulting in Palo Alto, CA is cited among others.
- It seems that he invented the term 'soft modem'.
-
- The Intel chip is the 8031. Its running the control functions and
- compression but not the protocols and echo suppression, which are
- both handled in one 2101 DSP. The 2101 has three parallel arithmetic units
- and can therefore handle tasks in just one DSP for which other
- manufacturers (eg USR) still need two DSPs.
