- I recently purchased a ZyXEL U-1496E FaxModem in Germany and am now
- operating it in Australia. Frequently I encounter a problem when ringing
- an Australian number. The ring signal (two short ring tones followed by
- a longer pause) is identical to the one in the UK. The modem seems to
- interpret this signal as a BUSY signal although the line is actually not
- busy. This does not happen all the time, only about 50% of the time.
- Calling a different country with a different ring signal such as Germany
- or the USA does not cause any problems, ie. a connection is established
- every time. A friend in Germany has experienced the same problem when
- calling me in Australia but has no problems when calling within Germany or
- countries with a similar ringing signal.
- Does anyone know what I can do to solve he problem. Are there different
- hardware settings for different countries? The handbook does not mention
- anything.
- I would be very happy to receive any suggestions.
- Thanks in advance,
- Matt.
