- Hi there!
-
- G.7xx is a new CCITT draft recommendation from Study Group XVIII
- meeting held in Geneva, June 1992.
-
- It specifies ATM cell mapping into Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy
- (PDH).
-
- The following PDH bit rates are included:
-
- 1 544 kbit/s (DS1)
- 2 048 " (E1)
- 6 312 " (DS2)
- 8 448 " (E2)
- 34 368 " (E3)
- 44 736 " (DS3)
- 99 728 " (in Japan?)
- 139 264 " (E4)
-
- The physical interfaces for the bit rates above are based on
- the CCITT G.703 standard. The transmission frame is octet structured with
- 125 us frame duration. The payload reserved for ATM cells and the path
- overhead of the frame is dependent on the bit rate. Generally
- the OAM principles for higher bit rates refer to the SDH standards.
- However the compatibility between this specs and the SONET/SDH standard
- could be better. E.g. see "Mapping of ATM cells into 139 264 kbit/s"!
-
- Any comment on this, and why not on the other mappings as well?

- PS. The next CCITT Study Group XVIII meeting will be held in January 1993.
- In case you might have something to contribute :-)
