- This way Ingres bypasses the Unix buffer cache and writes directly to
- the cooked file. There is a performance increase but I haven't
- measured it.

- Alas, I called Ingres tech support, and this only works on Sequent machines.
- As it indicates, Ingres will bypass the file system. According to Ingres
- the performance increase is quite substantial.
