  14.                 Fifth International Workshop On
  15.           High Performance Transaction Systems (HPTS)
  16.                    Asilomar Conference Center

  18.                      September 26-29, 1993

  20. The HPTS Workshop brings together leading architects, developers,
  21. practitioners, and researchers working on transaction systems.  Topics
  22. of interest include: TP monitors, transaction models, advanced or very
  23. large scale transaction applications, and transactional aspects of
  24. data communications, databases, system architecture, performance,
  25. security, fault-tolerance, programming interfaces, and
  26. interoperability.

  28. The workshop will include discussion sessions based on position papers
  29. and a few presentations of full papers.  A proceedings will be
  30. published.
  31.  
  32. Each participant must submit either a position paper or an abstract of
  33. a full paper on a topic of interest to the workshop.  The submission
  34. should include the author's affiliation and areas of responsibility or
  35. research.
  36.  
  37. A position paper may be a viewpoint on a controversial topic or a
  38. summary of lessons learned from recent research or practical
  39. experience.  An abstract of a full paper may be a description of a new
  40. mechanism or architecture, a product or prototype, and application, or
  41. results of work-in-progress.  Proposals for panel discussions or
  42. presentations are also welcome.  Special consideration will be given
  43. to submissions on transaction system topics not commonly covered in
  44. other technical forums.

  46. Attendance is limited to about 60 participants.  Participants will be
  47. invited based on their submissions.  Abstracts and position papaers
  48. should be at most five pages.  Submission should be sent to Diana
