  18. Although I don't know of a single chip solution, there are a couple 
  19. of useful devices you may like to take a look at.
  20. These are the Inmos IMSA121, and the SGS-Thomson STV3208.
  21. Both of these perform the Discrete Cosine Transform in 8x8 blocks,
  22. and for information on this I refer you to the paper
  23. "Image compression using a discrete cosine image processor"
  24.    by D J Bailey, and N Birch of Inmos
  25.  
  26. as well as the "Image Processing DataBook" by SGS-Thomson.
