- I think your blaming PCBoard for problems caused by the Sysops. I don't get
- the "no configurability". You can design every screen that you want your
- user to see. While I agree that it's not very user friendly, I like it
- because it doesn't encourage stupid people to post messages like
-
- TIM'S A FAG. HE WANTS TO BLOW THE GYM TEACHER!
-
- I've seen a lot of those on Telegard and Remote Access. I like some of the
- features of those boards, but I wouldn't set one up because they have the
- tendency to draw that crowd. (ie. Hey man, you got any Warez? K00L! I'm
- on all the pirate boards!)
-
- As far as colors go, what more do you want than the standard color ANSI.
- What is even better is that you don't even have to make seperate screen for
- color or b&w. I guess you want a XGA or 8514 BBS.
-
- The menu is a bit of a drag, but by putting your files in one area, you can
- get rid of the file part of the menu, and clearing those options. Makes it
- much more readable and friendly.
-
- You can use "psuedos" easily too.
-
- It's definately not an easy, fun BB, but it's nice from both sides once your
- used to the interface.
-
- The biggest drawback is price. I kind of like it anyway though because it
- means the board will be run by someone mature enough to have the money to
- buy it, meaning, hopefully no 13 pirate will set one up, get what he wants
- from it then shut it down. Telegard BBS's go up and down like yo-yo's around
- here.
-
- I am not a PCBoard Sysop, but you shouldn't cut it up for things like color
- and configurability if you havn't given it a fair chance. Obviously you
- haven't.
-
- PS. I have set up & run Remote Access, Telegard and WWIV. I am in the
- process of seting up PCBoard and find it rather easy. I don't hold
- any grudges against any other BBS software. What fun would it be
- if everybody ran OraComm? ;-)
