  13. I was recently able to allocate a spare 286 PC to setup as a dedicated
  14. BBS here in Boston.  Before I get in over my head, I thought I would
  15. ask for opinions (facts welcome also) and experiences on possible OS &
  16. BBS combinations for this sort of hardware.

  18. I plan to stuff some hard disk storage on thing (100M - 500M) and
  19. attempt to run 1-3 serial lines (intellegent serial card, perhaps?)
  20. into it.  I'd like a reasonable upgrade path to some combination of
  21. better hardware, a "doors" facility (Jim Morrison optional), and a
  22. _secure_ capability to utilize and share network resources.

  24. Usenet is a distant maybe and Internet mail capability is intriguing,
  25. but certainly not required.
