  21. I've just finished working on version 1.3 of the NeXT Gopher client.
  22. Its biggest improvements are using mini-icons in the browser to identify
  23. Gopher-types, and support for GIF images, plus many others.
  24.  
  25. It is available as Gopher_1.3.tar.Z on:
  26. ftp.msu.edu           in  /pub/unix/NeXTOS/gopher, and on 
  27. sonata.cc.purdue.edu  in  /pub/next/submissions.  
  28. It should also be on boombox.micro.umn.edu soon.

  30. Here's the full list of additions, changes and fixes:

  32. * mini-icons are used in the browser to identify Gopher-types
  33. * added support for GIF image files (type 'g')
  34. - the Find menu is fully implemented - including a Find Panel
  35. - fixed-width font (Ohlfs) used in the text window
  36. - larger default window size
  37. - Gopher will remember whenever you change its window size
  38. - 'play' (for sounds) is bundled into an .app wrapper
  39. - removed limitation on size of text files
  40. - Alternate-clicking on an item will update its "Item info"
  41.   without retrieving its contents
  42. - a default has been added to allow listing all items in the 
  43.   browser, including unsupported types.  In a Terminal window 
  44.   you must do "dwrite Gopher ShowAllTypes YES".
  45. - "Open..." remembers previous connection information
  46. - double-clicks in the browser are ignored
  47. - window closes when Gopher fails to open a new connection
  48. - better error detection & notification
  49. - fixed bug when closing a window from the menu (Command-w)
  50. - fixed bug when selecting text items following an Index
  51. - other minor improvements and bug fixes
