- I've been trying to get a picture of the sales of various processors
- and complete systems in various categories, including workstations,
- minicomputers, mainframes and personal computers. Unfortunately different
- sources seem to count these things different ways (e.g., some include
- servers in workstations, some don't). I've seen huge variations on
- claimed market share (for example, Sun's 1991 figure varying from 29% to
- 40%), without much clarity on what is being measured.
-
- Is there a reliable reasonably freely available source on these
- statistics? I would ideally like to go back a few years.
