  22. Subject: Video Training
  23. We began implementating video training in addition to our courses about one
  24. year ago. At first, we did not have much success, but it is starting to pick
  25. up now. The key has been a great deal of marketing and getting people to
  26. understand that it is a form of training. Following is some of the things I
  27. have done to begin implementing this as a viable form of training.

  29. First of all, we have a monthly school-wide newsletter that I put short
  30. articles in about the videos that are available as well as when we receive new
  31. videos.
  32.   Second, when anyone registers for a class, we send out a reminder notice a
  33. couple of weeks before the class and along with the reminder I include a sheet
  34. of suggestions of what to do before, during and after training to make it
  35. successful and, of course, video training is good for either introductory
  36. purposes or follow-up, reinforcement and additional practice. Third, during
  37. the class, I stress several times that the students can do video training at
  38. any time for additional practice as well as to learn new things and I have the
  39. videos for that particular class setting at the front of the room during
  40. class.

  42. Things we are doing for the future include setting up a certificate program
  43. which will have guidelines for remaining current with technology and hours of
  44. training needed. Video training will be a part of the program track in order
  45. to earn a certificate.

  47. Also, I have begun studying Just-In-Time learning which focuses on the use of
  48. technology to train. I hope to get some testing software in place because
  49. people have to know what their skills are and where they need additional
  50. training for training to be effective. Then, if they could do pre- and
  51. post-testing it would be even easier to promote video training to more and
  52. more people.

  54. Video training is not just setting someone in front of a video. It is a part
  55. of a process and it will not be successful if you just say here are the
  56. videos, come and view them.

  58. I hope this helps a little. We have a long way to go, but I think we have a
  59. good start and are on the right track. If you have any questions or
