- GF asked for information about Statistical Navigator.
-
- Statistical Navigator is an expert system to aid researchers in
- selecting appropriate statistics. It asks researchers questions
- about their research objectives and assumptions then identifies
- the most appropriate statistics for their problem. Unlike the
- small decision trees now offered by some statisical packages,
- it is relatively comprehensive. At last count, it included
- abaout 200 types of statistical analysis. It also identifies
- which major PC statistics packages provide that analysis.
-
- It is a MS-DOS program available from Idea Works, Inc. The
- address is 607 Jackson Street, Columbia, MO 65203.
- (314) 875-5827, FAX: (314) 875-5812.
-
- Incidentally, this program is relevant to the issues others
- have been raising regarding the use and misuse of statistical
- tools. Statistical Navigator is one attempt to help researchers
- use powerful statistical packages responsibly. Perhaps it
- would be worthwhile to hear some other ways people are trying
- to encourage and support responsible use of these tools.
