  11. GF asked for information about Statistical Navigator.

  13. Statistical Navigator is an expert system to aid researchers in
  14. selecting appropriate statistics.  It asks researchers questions
  15. about their research objectives and assumptions then identifies
  16. the most appropriate statistics for their problem.  Unlike the
  17. small decision trees now offered by some statisical packages,
  18. it is relatively comprehensive.  At last count, it included
  19. abaout 200 types of statistical analysis.  It also identifies
  20. which major PC statistics packages provide that analysis.

  26. Incidentally, this program is relevant to the issues others
  27. have been raising regarding the use and misuse of statistical
  28. tools.  Statistical Navigator is one attempt to help researchers
  29. use powerful statistical packages responsibly.  Perhaps it
  30. would be worthwhile to hear some other ways people are trying
  31. to encourage and support responsible use of these tools.
