  11. Job Description for Systems Librarian
  12.  
  13. The primary responsibility of the Systems Librarian is to
  14. coordinate, plan, fully implement and maintain NOTIS, plus all
  15. other automation services in the John B. Cade Library at Southern
  16. University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Works with and serves as primary
  17. liaison to the University Information Systems Office and reports to the
  18. Dean of Libraries. Must have knowledge and understanding of U.S. MARC
  19. format, experience using automated systems, preferably NOTIS. Provide
  20. leadership and input into the application of new information technology
  21. for the Library by planning and goal setting. Supervises and works with
  22. the Computer Applications Assistant.

  24. An ALA accredited MLS required with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  25. preferably in an academic library. A computer science degree or some
  26. courses in computer science preferred. Excellent interpersonal and
  27. communication skills, experience with and commitment to staff
  28. development training, knowledge of public and technical services,
  29. ability to work well as an individual and on cooperative
  30. endeavors.

  32. Appointment level and salary will be commensurate with experience
  33. and qualifications with a minimum of $30,000.
