  12. I second Dan Kirchner's viewpoint on the use of NOTIS-L.  I am happy that
  13. there is a lot less dumping on people with basic-level queries than there
  14. appears to be on other lists, especially lists used by technical workers with
  15. very narrowly defined specialties.  I for one do not have time to read every
  16. posting every day.  Like most NOTIStas, I suspect, I read the headlines and
  17. only a few actual messages a day. To me, the occasional repitition of basic,
  18. but important points is helpful.  Overall, the atmosphere on NOTIS-L is
  19. friendly and supportive, And we should try to keep it that way.

  21. on another matter.  Even though next year's NUGM is a ways off, it is not
  22. too soon to start thinking about poster sessions.  In particular, SIG
  23. chairs who are putting together programs and trolling for speakers should
  24. think of the possibilities of an *adjunct poster session* to provide handouts,
  25. or the opportunity to speak with an expert in depth on a topic covered in a
  26. program.

  28. Also, SIGs should consider having booths at the poster sessions, either to
  29. communicate with members, or to deal with an important development, or matter,
  30. of interest to the SIG and to NOTIS users at large.  If you want to talk,
