  17. Mervyn, I'm ashamed of you.  If we had all taken this approach, there would
  18. have been no NB 1 or 2 or 3, let alone 4.  After all, computers, let alone
  19. e-mail networks, are hardly necessary changes; the world of academia did
  20. fine with typewriters and mimeographs, or with a nice stylus and parchment
  21. for all that.  Granted that NB 4 is not The-Reign-of-God-on-Earth, it beats
  22. a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
