Well, some things in 4.0 are problematic, but there is no comparison between
the upgrade to 3.0 from 2.0 and the one to 4.0 from 3.1.  Nota Bene, and the
world, is simply more complex.  I've been on the phone with NBI a few times
and have resolved most problems.  I have faith in the future, more now than
a few months ago.  Most problems Mervyn reports have to do with a couple of
things he really likes, and all of us have our like and dislikes, but 4.0
is still flexible enough to compensate for this.  Some people bemoan the loss
of the "info" command.  That's a drag, but I hardly ever used it because the
manual was simply better.  I think it's still too early to pass judgment on
4.0 since NBI are aware of many problems and are working to fix them.  And,
for the academic, it simply does so much more than those "other" programs.
There, I've voiced my opinion, and now I'm setting "nomail" for a week
while I go on vacation!
