-
- We have been successfully using the INPCS 1.1 program, with the understanding
- that it is no longer supported and sooner or later we will need to migrate to
- INPCS/HPO or PROCOMM. A few items we've noted on INPCS:
-
- -There is a separate dial number for INPCS vs. INPCS/HPO, so I presume the
- protocol is different. You should be able to get the IBMLink Dial Directory
- from your SE, or from the IBMLink Bulletin Board if you can get on IBMLink
- some other way.
-
- -If a login fails on an INPCS session, you will usually get no message to
- your DOS session explaining why. The trick is to do an ALT-ESC, which will
- toggle you to the emulated 3270 session IIN login screen, which will usually
- display the problem, and you can also try entering your IBMLink userid info
- directly.
-
- -A datascope is also useful for diagnosing basic INPCS connection problems.
- Our campus uses a digital PBX with modem pooling for outgoing calls, and
- we found that by tinkering with the DIAL.PCS file and watching the datascope
- we could replace the Hayes commands INPCS normally puts out with commands our
- PBX liked.
-
- I'd be interesting in hearing if anyone is successfully using IBMLink with
- PROCOMM, and if so, what setup is required.
