  15. Wonder if someone could clarify some naval trivia.  I understand that when
  16. Admiral Dewey sailed into Manila bay to confront the Spanish fleet, he
  17. really was not worried about the Spaniards so much as he was worried
  18. about a German squadron moored there.  I saw a brief allusion to this a few
  19. years ago in the Naval Institute Proceedings.  However, that is all there
  20. was-a brief allusion.

  22. Does anyone have any info on the presence of a German squadron there at the
  23. time and why Dewey would worry about it?
