- Wonder if someone could clarify some naval trivia. I understand that when
- Admiral Dewey sailed into Manila bay to confront the Spanish fleet, he
- really was not worried about the Spaniards so much as he was worried
- about a German squadron moored there. I saw a brief allusion to this a few
- years ago in the Naval Institute Proceedings. However, that is all there
- was-a brief allusion.

- Does anyone have any info on the presence of a German squadron there at the
- time and why Dewey would worry about it?
