-
- In a nutshell, yes. If you have CSLG and ESL, you can add your PATHWORKS clients
- to ESL and receive rights-to-new-version for PATHWORKS. Keep in mind that you
- must count each client (PC or MAC) in the total ESL CPU count, which may or may
- not increase your ESL cost, depending on how many CPU you have under ESL. ESL is
- essentially LPS.
-
- The following is a message I posted a while back.

-
- This has been covered before but here goes again ...
-
- You have several options. First, you do not have to purchase LPS if you do not
- want to. You can opt to purchase the license or the update license (if there is
- such as beast for Pathworks, I have not looked into it so you will have to
- figure it out or contact your friendly local DEC sales rep.) and the media and
- documentation whenever a new version is released or whenever you would like to.
- It may turn out cheaper, it may not, depending on how often a new version is
- released. Even if there is no update license for Pathworks and you need to
- purchase the real license when a new version is released, it is not too
- expensive if you have that many clients. The cost for a 100 bundle purchase
- under TEI discount scheme is definitely less than $10,000, if I remember
- correctly. This is cheaper than paying $14,400 for LPS which you have just
- described.
-
- Your second option is to place it under ESL if you already have ESL. This may or
- may not come out cheaper depending on how many systems you have under ESL. The
- price for 25 to 100 systems is roughly $20,000. It's $30,000 for 100 systems and
- more (Hmm, I think that is correct.) Anyway, there is no price increase after
- 100 systems. So, if you are in ESL and is already paying $20,000, it will be
- cheaper to add all your PC clients into ESL for Pathworks for LPS since you only
- need to pay $10,000 more, which is less than what you would pay for LPS without
- ESL.
