  13. Bill P. points out that among other things PCT could lead to better
  14. understanding of reasons why people do/do not shoot at each other.

  16. We have two quite different mechanisms in the two societies
  17. chronicled by Rolf Peterson and the Altmans.

  30. And, uncomfortably close to home:-
  31. In Los Angeles recently, as reported by LtC. William V. Wenger
  32.  
  33. As I (Wenger) watched in disbelief, a gang member in the car in front
  34. of me, waiting to make a left turn, shot the occupants in the cars
  35. on either side of him. I was unarmed, but quickly followed the shooters,
  36. as did several police cars, until they were apprehended 2 blocks away.
  37. I reported what I had witnessed to the police, and then drove to our
  38. headquarters armory to supervise the mobilzation of my Army National
  39. Guard battalion in Ingelwood, California.

  41. The feedback mechanisms for Altman and Peterson's reports are quite
  42. clear. The need for the pack to function successfully in hunting,
  43. in order to eat, and predation by leopards on baboons, who have no
  44. serious resource shortages in the way of food, but are the victims
  45. of predation.

  47. Any comments on exactly what feedback mechanisms were working and
  48. what were not in Los Angeles??
