  13. Our professional staff members who work during "closed" periods/holidays
  14. get comp. time.  However, our hourly staff gets paid according to college
  15. rules: that means they get double time and 1/2 for the day.  Thus, we hourly
  16. workers tend to enjoy working the holidays (plus there's nothing to do in
  17. public services except chat since almost no patrons showing up; maybe next
  18. time we'll bring in a VCR!)

  20. Our one problem is closed periods that don't count as a holiday.  Our director
  21. was recently on the phone arguing with payroll about paying a Sat. worker for
  22. the day plus for the hours she worked.  It did get through: perhaps whoever
  23. is in charge of the library budget would authorize the additional money.

  25. I thought the pizza idea someone mentioned was pretty good.
