- Our professional staff members who work during "closed" periods/holidays
- get comp. time. However, our hourly staff gets paid according to college
- rules: that means they get double time and 1/2 for the day. Thus, we hourly
- workers tend to enjoy working the holidays (plus there's nothing to do in
- public services except chat since almost no patrons showing up; maybe next
- time we'll bring in a VCR!)
-
- Our one problem is closed periods that don't count as a holiday. Our director
- was recently on the phone arguing with payroll about paying a Sat. worker for
- the day plus for the hours she worked. It did get through: perhaps whoever
- is in charge of the library budget would authorize the additional money.
-
- I thought the pizza idea someone mentioned was pretty good.
