- I am just now setting up some test servers here, and have a question
- concerning the use of a .link and/or a .cap file.
-
- When I access the test directory, the server alphabatizes the contents
- into a menu. Now, as I understood it, I could create a .link file to
- override this, with both order of menu items and names specified. This seems to
- work okay, however, there are two problems with this. First, while using the
- .link file and executing the client, I not only get the new menu items as
- listed in the .link file, but I also get all the directory file names
- listed in the menu in alphabetic order. How do I override the alphabetic
- listing of directory filenames in the menu and only get the .link names?
- Second, while using a .cap directory(without a .link file) and creating the filenames that exist in the actual directory, another strange thing
- occurs. When I execute the client, this seems to eliminate the multiple
- menu listings of directory contents, but I dont seem to be able to get the other
- options(path, host, port,...) to work right. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
-
- Perhaps someone could explain to me how .link and .cap work and any other
- ways to override directory listings in the menu.
-
- thanks,
- drex
