  15. We are using UCX 2.0 (with SMTP ECO1 and FTP ECO1) on VMS 5.5-1. For
  16. several reasons (whitch I would not discuss here...) the stations
  17. in our department are configured to be NON DYNAMIC ROUTING in a
  18. C-Mask Subnet, static default routing to a specific GATEWAY.
  19. Everything seems to work fine (now).

  21. However we live in a B-NET with several hundreds of nodes. Some of
  22. them using B-Mask broadcasts. (espcially the backbone routers...)
  23.  
  24. Now we have seen that EVERY UCX 2.0 node with a C-Mask, receiving a
  25. B-Mask broadcast will complain with...
  26.  
  27. 70(Bytes) ICMP from node-c to b-broadcaster   dst (port) unreachable
  28.  
  29. (this is true for applications using privat ports not supported on our
  30. UCX2.0 nodes and also for routing-messages on NON DYNAMIC Routing nodes)

  32. It seems that a C-Mask UCX2.0 node treats a B-Mask Broadcast as a 
  33. NODE to NODE message. :-( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. Has anybody an idea how to avoid this...or shall i wait until
  36. there's a PATCH (gone through an exhaustiv field test...when? ) ?

  38. I'am afraid that our networkmanger will not allow us to use UCX2.0
  39. under this circumstances.
